weekends in the city: sundays

grand plans for a highly scheduled sunday quickly changed into a very mellow sunday visit from gretchen. lots of tea, chatting, cooking, and knitting.

serious conversations: about raising children in the city, buying and selling houses, locking doors, watching tv, sports, relationships of all sorts, marriage and divorce, depression, expectations, cooking, art, personal time, boundaries — a day with gretchen.

cooking: polenta with roasted broccoli and mozzarella

knitting: scarves of grey (gretchie) and of red (nesti) – dropped stitches and lessons in casting on.

we ended up watching alice again — ernesto was vehemently opposed to ‘thomas’ (thank you aunt cheryl) and i was really lobbying for ratatouille but it was not going to go my way. ernesto and i stole away for an afternoon date on friday – a rare treat - had lunch at the museum cafe and went to the napoleon exhibit at the mfa. today was a playdate at jazzy’s – she’s two and she lives next door. we took our fisher-price barn and a bag full of assorted farm animals – pure heaven for the kids. i left ernesto at jazzy’s to run home, switch into work gear and run to the hynes convention center to help ‘man’ a booth at the mass municipal assn.

friday night movie night

friday nights are movie nights in our house. top contenders at this moment: alice in wonderland (1951) and ratatouille (2007). we have already seen both of these — at 2yrs11mos ‘re-viewing’ is a common practice. the most recent non ‘G’ movies i’ve seen — finding neverland (was unable to finish watching) and pan’s labyrinth (did not want to finish watching – the gratuitous violence turned me off) – these were both on dvd during naps. btw – naps are almost a distant memory – she says wistfully.

two2two-we’re back…

we are way sorry for the longish hiatus… we had a bear of a time getting it back together after we came back from maine. anyhow… it being the time of resolutions, we have all resolved to start-up again. The aim this year it to have a trey of photos taken by mary-ernesto-and jack from left to right.

We will post once a week (ideally on sundays) with a new theme chosen by us. —- ’tis good to be back.
